The first symptom that will be seen when a person has nail fungus is a small white or yellow spot on one nail. As the nail grows so will this spot on the nail. The best way one can tell if they have nail fungus infection is if they notice that there is something growing under that nail that is white, yellow or brown.

If left untreated, the nails could start lifting from the nail bed which is likely to cause some pain and discomfort. Some types of nail fungus may even cause some small lesions or swelling around the nail. Although some nail fungus may not be treatable with topical creams, most will.
